Holiday Display

Toys some of us might remember!

Toys some of us might remember!

Did you know that, in the early 1900s, the most popular gifts were oranges, nuts, mittens and handkerchiefs? By the 1920s, the First World War was over and the newest fad was the yo-yo. What does it say about a decade that later saw the Pet Rock as the most popular gift? For six months people paid for a rock in a box, and this short-lived fad made the inventor $2 million dollars. Do you remember the Easy Bake Oven from the 60s? How about the View-Master or more recent Tickle Me Elmo?

Stop by and play a pick-up game of table hockey.

Visit the museum from Dec 1 to Dec 31, Sunday – Wednesday from 11:00 – 3:00 to see the new holiday display “Toys through Time.”
