Presented by Bowen Island Sea Kayaking, the Round Bowen Challenge is a 32-kilometre race around Bowen Island, British Columbia, open to kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and outriggers as solo or relay team members. The Annual Round Bowen Challenge and post-race salmon barbecue takes place in late June, with a portion of the proceeds going to support the activities of the Bowen Island Museum & Archives, thanks to Dan Parkin. For more information, please visit the official website of the Round Bowen Kayak Race.
Last year at the 14th Annual Round Bowen Challenge we had a fantastic turn out. The race started early in the morning and the last kayaker managed to finish by 4 o’clock in time for the BBQ. The Museum and Archive BBQ was a huge success with help of Dan Parkin, Rob Forbes, Cathy Bayly, as well as our two summer students Andrea and Daniel. The group managed to serve a fresh spread of Salmon, roasted potatoes, rustic bread and green salad to all those that participated. The Bowen Island Museum and Archives would like to extend a sincere thank you to BI Sea Kayaking and we hope to see you all next year!
